Dominican Justice Office

 

The Dominican Justice Office was set up in Ireland as a joint initiative of Dominican Sisters and Friars to further the commitment of Dominicans in their Acts and work to social justice action. It promotes justice and equality through education, research and involvement in projects and social justice issues such as anti-racism, social exclusion and homelessness.

Community Link Persons to the Justice Office

Many Dominican Communities have appointed a person to act as a link between the Justice Office and Community members. This contributes to:

•  Promoting a sense of ownership throughout Communities of the Justice Office

•  Ensuring that there is a person in each Community to disseminate information on justice issues and campaigns

•  Keeping the office informed of on-going justice work being carried out by Dominican Communities, projects and individuals

•  Engaging in the promotion of debate on justice issues and developing a Dominican perspective on social justice action

The Justice Office holds meetings for Link Persons and Lay Dominicans three times a year. These meetings are usually around such themes as Poverty, Homelessness, Fair Trade, Debt and Development. Guest speakers make presentations which challenge us to look critically at socio-economic realities and to explore ways of showing solidarity to those experiencing marginalisation and social exclusion. In addition to Link Persons, any members of Communities interested in attending are most welcome. Book your place through the Justice Office.
