All sing: This is the Day .... (Or other suitable chant)
Jubilarian while lighting candle says:
Lord Jesus, you are light in our darkness. Keep our feet on the right path throughout our days and lead us nourished by your word and sacraments to the eternal banquet in heaven.
Leader:
Lord Jesus, you loved to spend time in table fellowship, sharing food and drink. Be with all who share our lunch today. May the hospitality and companionship they experience here, enhance the quality of their lives and lighten their burden.
Sister 1.
May Jesus, who made wine of the water at the wedding feast of Cana, fill this water with strength and vigour. May he bless this wine and the fruit from which it came. And may God give us to drink from the well that never runs dry.
All: Blessed are you Lord our God,
who gives food to all your creatures.
Sister 2.
May the meat, vegetables and fruit we have today bless the Lord as do the sun, moon and stars. For these are your creatures Lord, meant to serve us. We praise you for them.
All: Blessed are you Lord our God,
who gives food to all your creatures.
Sister 3.
God Our Father and Mother, we thank you for providing us with food to eat as sign of your love and care for us. We ask you to bless the hands which prepared the food and all who from the fruit of the earth provide us with our daily bread.
All: Blessed are you Lord our God,
who gives food to all your creatures.
Sister 4
Be our hidden guest at the table Lord. Strengthen us by this food and by your grace to do your work on earth, so that with all whom we love, those here and those absent, we may one day share that eternal banquet in your home in Heaven.
All: Blessed are you Lord our God,
who gives food to all your creatures.
Leader:
King of the feast, Lord of all this fare, bless all we have, bless all we share.
And now let's eat: Bom apetite!
