Join with us in
giving thanks for the fifty years that Sr James Williams has been a Dominican
sister.
Coming from a large family, she
brought with her into the convent the strong faith of her parents who were well
known among the people belonging to that area of Addo in the Eastern Cape. She recounts how early they had to rise on
Sunday mornings to set off walking to Mass thirteen miles away. In elephant country there was always the fear
that they would walk right into one on their way to church. Their father accompanied them, brandishing a
long whip, ready to crack it at the slightest sign of danger.
Here in
Wittebome in the Western Cape, as Dominican sisters we came together to pray and rejoice with Sr
James on this her Jubilee Day.
