Gatherings

July 2008 is a month of gatherings.  We as a Dominican group gather on 26th July to celebrate 80 years of our lives together as a Congregation.  But our small gathering and the many bigger ones for Rock Concerts and Summer festivals in the Northern Hemisphere will be completely over shadowed by a gathering down under.

This July – 15-20th is World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia.  The theme of this gathering, received from the Holy Father, is ‘You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you: and you will be my witnesses.’(Acts 1:8)  The result for the young people of the world will be the same as for the Apostles when they gathered after the death of Jesus.  The Holy Spirit will scatter them far and wide throughout the world to spread the Good News that God is always new and fresh and young gathering us in love and scattering us in service.

We pray for youth where ever they are – in Sydney, at festivals or at Rock Concerts.
