Dominicans for Justice and Peace (Order of Preachers, OP) was created as a non-governmental organisation in 1998 to give witness to the Gospel message at the frontiers. The group
  • focuses on the challenge of justice and peace in the world;
  • contributes to the ongoing discourse on social justice and human rights violations worldwide;
  • provides an international forum for members of the Dominican family who are active in these fields; to advocate on behalf of victims of human rights violations;
  • works with NGOs in the field and in partnership with Franciscans International (FI).


In January 2002 Dominicans for Justice and Peace received Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations.News Updates from the UN

 

The NGO Alliance


The NGO Alliance comprises over 44 non-governmental organisations from a variety of backgrounds including human rights, community development, religious and equality. The groups come together to work on specific areas of anti-racism.

The Dominican Justice Office has co-ordinated this project. Mr Chris Duckett of the Dominicans for Justice and Peace and Ms Deborah Hirt of Franciscans International (FIOP) office in Geneva will also attend this briefing.
