Are you the kind of person who wants more from life? Do you want to make a difference? Do you get angry when you see injustice? Want to change bad situations? Want to give as much as you get? Want to follow someone who did make a difference? Do you have a hunger for a deeper spirituality? Did you ever think of following Jesus in a dedicated way of life? If you answer yes to some or all of these questions, you might want to find out about “our crowd”, and we might be glad to have you join us!

We are a group of women, all sorts of shapes and sizes, individuals who come together to form communities large and small. Yes, we may be getting older but there is life in us yet and a great passion to do all we can so that, in Jesus’ words, people may have life and have it to the full. We belong to a religious congregation of women, part of the worldwide family of St Dominic.

We have a long history. Dominicans are around for 800 years! We have hope for the future also. We try to make a difference in all sorts of ways: working with groups of people, in the field of education, spirituality, theology, ecology, interfaith dialogue, justice and peace, in basic Christian communities, schools and colleges, parishes, hospitals, prisons. You will find us in Ireland, South Africa and Swaziland, Lisbon (Portugal), New Orleans (USA), Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil.

Listening to the Word of God in the Bible and in people is important to us and we study to understand it and the society in which we live. We support one another in community and we share the Good News of God’s love for us as we discover it ourselves through prayer and life’s experiences.

Becoming a Dominican is a bungee jump into life, scary but exhilarating. It has its highs and lows but we have a confidence that we are held by a God who loves us, calls us and believes in us

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last".  John 15:16
