Staff and students bade farewell to the long serving and much loved director of the Adult Education Centre, Sr Kathleen Moran OP.
At the end of October, staff and students bade farewell to the long serving and much loved director of the Centre, Sr Kathleen Moran OP. Present also were representatives of the Dominican Sisters who thanked her for her immense contribution to the promotion of Adult Education.
During her time as director, Sr Kathleen has provided a wide range of courses to all adults of varying ages and backgrounds. The courses are given by highly qualified tutors with a combined experience of many years teaching. The attendance at her farewell celebration reflected the esteem she was held in.
The new director of the Centre is Sr Sabine Schratz OP, a youthful member of the Dominican Sisters with experience in teaching, designing courses and organizing conferences. Sr Sabine hopes to continue the good work that has been done over the last decades and, at the same time, take on the challenge of extending the curriculum and the timetable to further reach out to a new generation.

Founded in 1976, the Adult Education Centre, located in the grounds of the Dominican Convent Sion Hill on Mt. Merrion Avenue, continues to meet the education needs of 400 “knowledge seekers” who cross its threshold every week. A mix of all ages, students come to experience what the centre has to offer in the areas of personal and self-development such as spirituality, yoga, and mindfulness and further education in areas such as theology and faith education, English literature, learning a new language or simply enjoying art or painting classes.
