Conference for Young Religious, 27 – 29 October 2017
A group of forty “younger” members of various religious congregations and orders (at varying stages of formation) gathered this weekend in Emmaus Retreat Centre for the annual Religious in Formation Conference. We spent the weekend engaging with great speakers, coming together for prayer, living as community, and enjoying our time together!
Dominicans were well-represented. Srs Sabine and Eileen are part of the core organising group and we were privileged to welcome Dominican Sister, Margaret Mayce OP (NGO Representative at the UN) and Dominican friar, Stephen Cummins OP as our speakers, along with Fr. Michael Screene MSC.
All three spent the weekend with us. Our universal Church was also evident – those present included women and men from Vietnam, England, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Slovakia, Scotland, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Italy, and, of course, Ireland.
Our Conference title and theme came from Pope Francis’ call to young people – “Never tire of working for a more just world.”
