Results of the Dominican Bicentenary Choral Composing Competition, Cabra
It gives us great pleasure to share the winning songs and their composers on our website of Dominican Bicentenary Choral Composing Competition, which was hosted by St. Dominic’s College, Cabra. The Cabra Bicentenary Choral Composing Competition was a song-writing competition which invited the submission of new music for choir from both new and established composers.
In both categories, the songs were selected unanimously by the adjudicators. Congratulations to the two prize-winning composers and many thanks again to all who took part and especially to the students and staff of St. Dominic’s College, for this wonderful gift of music!
The Cabra Bicentenary Choral Composing Competition was a song-writing competition which invited the submission of new music for choir from both new and established composers.
The winning compositions were selected by an adjudication panel and were sung by the Combined Bicentenary Choir at a concert performed in December 2019, in the Chapel at St. Dominic’s College, Cabra.
The winner in the established composers with previous experience of writing choral arrangements was “We are Called to Praise” was composed by Padraig Meredith. The winner in the New and emerging composers which was was open to present and past pupils of Dominican Schools only was “By My Life” composed by Ms. Nuala Murray
