The Dominican Sisters, Cabra have been engaged in the ministry of education since their arrival in Ireland and in their missionaries overseas. This ministry has encompassed teaching in primary and secondary schools including schools for the hearing-impaired and children with learning disabilities.
In the past number of decades, the Sisters have progressively entrusted the leadership and management of its schools to the laity. The majority of secondary schools have been placed under the leadership of Le Cheile Schools Trust. The Dominican ethos however is at the forefront of education in all of the schools established by the Dominican Sisters.
Education remains a cornerstone of Dominican ministry with the focus now on preaching and educating adults and children about the importance of the Earth through sustainable living in An Tairseach, our Ecology Centre based in Wicklow and through adult education courses provided in Sion Hill.
